Kelowna Dance & Fitness offers recreational and competitive classes for students ages 2.5 years old – adult. Class placement is at the discretion of our Studio Director. Please feel free to contact us with any questions, or click here: Online Registration to view our online schedule.

Meet Our Instructors

BALLET

Ballet provides the technical foundation essential for all dance forms. It is a highly technical form of dance with its own vocabulary. It is primarily performed with the accompaniment of classical music.

Dress Code

  • Pink Bodysuit (See Instructor)
  • Black Bodysuit (See Instructor)
  • Plain White T-Shirt (Boys)
  • Pink Ballet Tights (Girls)
  • Black Yoga Capris (Boys)
  • Pink Leather Ballet Slippers (Girls)
  • Black Leather Ballet Slippers (Boys)
  • Hair MUST be in a Bun
  • No Jewelry (watch, necklace, earrings etc.)

TAP

Tap dance helps students develop better rhythm, musicality, and coordination. Tap is a form of dance characterized by using the sound of Tap shoes hitting the floor as a percussive instrument.

Dress Code

  • Black Bodysuit
  • Beige Tights
  • Tap Shoes (patent for ages 3 – 7 ; leather split sole for ages 8+)
  • Booty Shorts (optional)
  • Hair up off face and neck
  • No Jewelry (watch, necklace, earrings etc.)

JAZZ

Jazz combines upbeat dance styles with elements of Ballet and is influenced by rhythms and technique. Throughout its history, Jazz dance has developed in parallel to popular music. A low center of gravity and high level of energy are other important identifying characteristics of Jazz dance.

LYRICAL

Lyrical has its primary basis in Ballet, combining many technical elements of classical Ballet with the freedom, fluidity, and expressiveness aspects of Jazz.

CONTEMPORARY

Contemporary dance incorporates elements of both Ballet and Modern dance as a source of inspiration. This style of dance continuously searches for new forms and dynamics and encourages freedom of expression through movement.

KINDERDANCE

Kinderdance incorporates educational concepts, motor development, and fitness curriculum. We place special emphasis on building self-confidence and self-esteem in young children.

FAIRY TALE BALLET

Fairy Tale Ballet class introduces pre-schoolers to dance through story telling followed by creative dance related movement. We use tiaras, wands and other props – it is a magical class.

MUSICAL THEATRE

Musical Theatre is a form of theatre that combines songs, spoken dialogue, acting, and dance. Since the early 20th century, musical theatre stage works have generally been called, simply, musicals.

Dress Code

  • Black Plain Yoga Pants (or Black Sweats For Boys)
  • Plain White T-Shirt
  • Beige Leather Slip On(NO LACES) Oxford Jazz Shoes (no jazz runners)
  • No outdoor footwear will be permitted into the studio.
  • Hair up off face and neck

HIP HOP

Hip Hop dance includes a wide range of styles. The fundamentals of both “old school” styles such as popping and locking and “new school” styles like, krumping, tutting, crip walking, wacking and harlem shaking are taught in this dance style.

  • Sneakers ordered by the Studio
