Miss Melodie ADAPT

melodiehsMiss Melodie is an award winning choreographer and performer and a  certified ADAPT Instructor. With three decades of dance behind her, including 20 years of teaching, Miss Melodie has studied under such legends as Al Gilbert, Brian Foley, Susan Mensinger, Van the Man Porter, Mia Michaels, Art Stone, Bill deRicco, Debbi Dee, Charles McGowan, Brenda Buffalino, Frank Hatchett, Tyce Diorio, Gregg Russell, Tina Landon, and Marty Kudelka. Competition has taken her across North America and led her to the stages of Tremaine and Dance Olympus, creating a solid background in choreography and technique. She has studied dance at renowned studios such as The Edge Performing Arts Centre, Broadway Dance Centre, and Millenium Dance Complex. Through freelance teaching, Miss Melodie has instructed at numerous studios throughout North America, and has seen prior students go on to dance professionally for the likes of Hillary Duff, Marianas Trench, Randolph Academy, The Banff Centre, The Royal Winnipeg Ballet, DDC, Toronto Dance Theatre (TDT), LUX, The Source, The Bakery, Ballet Victoria, and several notable cruise lines.

Miss Lindsay

Head ShotMiss Lindsay started gymnastics at age 3. She went on to become a competitive gymnast and then found her true passion, dance. Since the age of eleven she has been training and competing in jazz, tap, ballet, lyrical, and acrobatics. She trained with The Young Canadians for two years and thoroughly enjoyed performing in front of thousands of people in several shows including the Calgary Stampede Grandstand Show. Miss Lindsay has participated in numerous conventions and competitions in Canada and the United States. She was recognized with many scholarships and awards. Miss Lindsay was also a part of the O2 Dance company for two shows: ‘IM the Seasons of Love’ and ‘Grounds: moments shared within a coffee shop’. She has taught jazz, lyrical, acrobatics, tap, and has choreographed multiple competition and recital numbers in Calgary. Miss Lindsay also has a variety of experience working with children with disabilities.
Recently, Miss Lindsay completed her Bachelors of Community Rehabilitation and Disability Studies at the University of Calgary and is looking forward to starting her Masters degree at the University of British Columbia Okanagan. Lindsay has shared her love of dance with young students and is looking forward to continuing to do so at KDPA.

Mr Mark

2014 HeadshotBorn in Prince George, British Columbia, Canada, Mark Dennis began training at Canada’s National Ballet School in 2002. During his time at school, Mark was a recipient of the 2006 Canada Council for the Arts Peter Dwyer Scholarship and participated in the Prix de Lausanne quarter finals 2007. After graduating from grade 12 in 2006, Mark continued his studies in the National Ballet School’s Post Secondary Program until he joined the National Ballet of Canada as an apprentice in August 2008.
Since then Mark has gone on to be a member of Alberta Ballet in Calgary, The West Australian Ballet in Perth, Australia and Northern Ballet in Leeds, United Kingdom. Mark’s repertoire includes dancing Bluebird in Marcia Haydee’s production of “Sleeping Besuty,” Hortensio in Cranko’s “Taming of the Shrew,” as well as works by Balanchine, Kylian, Neumeier, Kudelka, Uwe Scholz and Petr Zuska to mention a few. Currently a member of Ballet Kelowna, Mark is very excited to be back in his home
Province; sharing his experience and artistic abilities with audiences in Kelowna and throughout British Columbia.

Miss Sydney

sydneyhsMiss Sydney has competed and performed all over Canada and the United States and has won many overall awards and Scholarships. She has also completed all of her Royal Academy of Dance Ballet Exams, and most recently been awarded with her Solo Seal in June of 2011. In 2011, Miss Sydney was in the Pre-Professional program with the Alberta Ballet, where she had the great opportunity to perform in “The Sleeping Beauty”. Miss Sydney has attended programs with companies such as Goh Ballet, Royal Winnipeg Ballet, American Academy of Ballet and the Boston Ballet. Miss Sydney was also a part of the very first O2 The Dance Company’s production of “IM The Seasons of Love”. Miss Sydney is currently Dancing with a Vancouver based Company, and will be Guest Instructing at Kelowna Dance.
